Event Description:
Lip Sync Performance (Solo or Group)
Competitors may perform individually or in groups of up to four (4) students. Each entry will present a fully choreographed lip-sync performance to a single song lasting 3–6 minutes.
- Audio Requirements:
- The performance must use one continuous song (no mixes or mashups), unless the piece is performed that way in the original musical or official version
- Edited versions of songs are allowed and encouraged (e.g., trimming length, adjusting intros/outros, or creating clean cuts), as long as the final track remains a single, continuous piece
- All music must be school-appropriate and pre-approved by a coach or team director
- Performance Rules:
- Performers must lip-sync only — no live vocals, speaking, or added sounds by participants during the performance
- Emphasis should be placed on precision synchronization with the track
- Creativity & Production Value:
Competitors are strongly encouraged to elevate their performance through: - Choreography (movement, staging, and energy)
- Synchronization (timing with lyrics and among group members)
- Characterization and storytelling
- Costumes and costume changes
- Props and visual elements (creative, thematic, and well-integrated)
- Exploration of diverse music genres (pop, musical theatre, hip-hop, country, rock, international music, etc.)
- Judging Criteria:
Performances will be evaluated based on: - Synchronization and timing
- Choreography and stage presence
- Creativity and originality
- Use of costumes and props
- Overall entertainment value
This event rewards bold, creative performances—competitors are encouraged to take risks, think theatrically, and fully commit to their concept.
