Festival Interpretation (Novice)
Event Description:

Includes: Dramatic Performance, Duo Interpretation, Oral Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation.

Competitors must use published, citable literary material. Publication Guidelines in By-Law 21 apply.

In DP and DUO, competitors who use notes or refer to a script during the presentation may not be ranked above “Developing.” Judges are allowed to use their discretion and discernment on Developing vs. Beginning on the rubric when it comes to script use.

In OI and POI, Manuscripts (binders) are required; competitors may not perform without a manuscript.

Introduction is required and included in total time. Time limit: 10 minutes with 30-second grace period.

Script on demand: Per By-Law 4.B.7, all competitors must bring a written or digital copy of their presentation and must produce it upon request. Failure to produce results in disqualification.

Re-use: No student may use a piece used in any previous competition season (By-Law 4.B.6).
