Original Oratory

Event Description:

An original speech, written by the competitor, on a topic of their choice. Oratories usually persuade, inspire, or offer a new way of looking at a problem.

Rules
- The speech must be the competitor's own work.
- No more than 150 words may be quoted from other sources.
- Delivered from memory. No notes, scripts, or visual aids.
- Time limit: 10 minutes.

Grace period: competitors get 30 seconds past the time limit with no penalty. A competitor over the time limit plus the grace period may not be ranked first in that round. Time runs from the first word or movement of the performance to the last, and the judge times the video.
