Editorial (Friday)

Event Description:

Competitors in Editorial Commentary will each prepare a speech that lasts 3 to 5 minutes. This speech will be similar to an editorial column in a newspaper, podcast, news program, tik tok or radio program.

The competitors will present their speeches and judges shall time them, with no grace period being provided for this particular event.

Each competitor is allowed to print their speech on a sheet of paper and read from it during the event. Since competitors prepare their speech ahead of the round they will not be given a topic by the judge, but must simply present the speech that they have prepared. Time signals are permitted.

The editorial will be read, from a sitting or standing position, as if on a television program, radio program, YouTube channel or podcast.

Time Limit: 3 to 5 minutes with a 5-second grace period.
