Sequoyah's Autumn Argument
Join us IN PERSON on Saturday, November 7th!
We are excited to offer a variety of speech and debate events for high school competitors. Please note that no middle school events will be offered this year.
DEBATE EVENTS
We will offer Novice, JV, and Varsity Policy Debate; Novice and Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate; and Novice and Varsity Public Forum Debate.
All resolutions are established by the NSDA and can be found at https://www.speechanddebate.org/topics/.
IMPORTANT: Novice Lincoln-Douglas competitors will NOT use the national service novice topic. Instead, they will debate the current November/December LD resolution.
Default Tabroom tiebreakers will be used.
SPEECH EVENTS
The following events will be offered to high school competitors: Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Impromptu Speaking.
CONGRESSIONAL DEBATE
Congressional Debate will be offered! We will use the October NSDA legislation. Default Tabroom tiebreakers will be used.
BACK AGAIN THIS YEAR!
Original Spoken Word Poetry returns! Please refer to the GFCA Constitution and Bylaws for event rules.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE
Registration and check-in will begin at 7:30 AM. All schools must check in by 8:00 AM. Speech and debate rounds will begin at 8:30 AM.
The tournament schedule is based on previous years. Whenever possible, we will accelerate rounds to conclude the tournament and hold the awards ceremony as early as possible, allowing traveling schools ample time to return home.
IMPORTANT: Schools are strongly discouraged from leaving Sequoyah to purchase food during the tournament, as doing so may result in forfeiting a round.
Concessions and lunch will be available for students to purchase in the cafeteria. A hospitality lounge will be provided in the media center for coaches and judges.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sequoyah's Autumn Argument!
