Welcome to the 2026 D5 Novice Harvest

Friday, October 23rd and Saturday, October 24th

This tournament is allowing returning competitors to judge the novice competitors. Only novices may compete at this tournament. A novice is defined as any student who is in their first year of competition or has only previously competed in one speech and/or debate competition during any academic year.

We will be offering both speech and debate. Students may double enter in speech events, but may not enter a combination of the following: Extemp, Radio, Retold, or Panel. This tournament will have three speech prelim rounds and four debate prelim rounds. There will be no elimination rounds. We are currently offering the following events, but we reserve the right to drop or combine events due to low entry rates.

The host will select a varsity competitor to preside over the novice congress chamber. This varsity will be exempt from rankings.

Judge Burdens:
1 judge per 5 congress or speech entries
1 judge per 2 LD/WSD entries

Schedule: The schedule may be moved up as the tournament progressives if rounds end early.

Each team will be sent an invoice following the tournament. Please send payment as soon as possible!

Parking:
Please tell your bus drivers to drop students off at the front of the building. Century school buses will still be leaving the high school, so please make sure they know not to go to the bus island or they will cause a traffic jam. After dropping off your team, tell your buses to park at the Maverick parking lot until 4:30 and then they can come back to be at the bus island.
