The Ysleta HS Speech and Debate program would like to welcome you to the 2026
Ysleta Tournament. The tournament will be IN-PERSON at Ysleta High
School on August 28-29, 2026. We will be offering the complete
set of events in IE’s and LD, PF, and Congressional debate. If any events fail to meet
qualifying numbers, then the event will be dropped.

LD and PF will use the NSDA Sept. - Oct. topics.

Congressional Debate will be debating the following pieces of legislation from the TFA Fall 2026 Docket.

Prelims: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (in that order)

Finals: 6-10 (in that order unless the chamber chooses to rearrange it using proper procedure)

If semis is required, this will be the docket:
Prelims: 1, 2, 3, 4, 11
Semis: 5, 6, 7, 12, 13
Finals: 8, 9, 10, 14, 15
This allows students to focus on prepping 1-10 regardless of the schedule. We will announce which we are using once numbers are clear in regards to semis/no-semis.

Please refer to the schedule for event times and cross entry rules. All cross-entries are at the student’s own risk. If a student does not make their round on-time they may be dropped, regardless of the reason. Students may be marked as a no-show if they have not shown up to a round within 60 minutes of the start time, and students who sign into their rounds must perform within 90 minutes of the rounds start time. In debates, students may be marked as a no-show after 15 minutes.

Out-rounds will be paneled only if we have enough judges available.

We will break brackets in debate out-rounds.

We will do our best to accelerate the schedule if/when possible, so please pay close attention to the postings and updates.

Ysleta students will be competing at their own tournament, including in elimination rounds.

Student Congress will take place in the Early College Building. It is the smaller building to the right of the main building when you enter the gate on Davis St. Everything else will take place in the main building.

All coaches and students need to wear their school id during student congress. All tournaments attendees (coaches, students, judges, observers) must check in with the tournament host to receive a button or sticker to wear for the entire tournament.

Awards: We will be passing out awards for top 3 in every event and top 3 school sweepstakes. However, due to budgetary constraints, we will not be passing out traditional medals and trophies, but we will send pictures of our awards in advance so students know what they will be receiving.
