World Debate Championship 2026 — Delhi Edition
The World Debate Championship 2026 — Delhi Edition is an inter-school academic debate tournament for students in Grades 6 onwards, taking place 1–3 May 2026 at Amity University.
The Championship is organised by Ivy Spires and delivered under the academic framework of the Harvard Debate Council.
The tournament provides a structured national platform for students to engage in rigorous intellectual competition, develop persuasive argumentation skills, and gain exposure to internationally benchmarked debate standards.

• 3-speaker team format
• Prepared and impromptu motions
Original Oratory & Impromptu Speaking
• Students in the speech track will compete OO and IMP patterns.
Divisions
Junior Division
Grades 6–7
Senior Division
Grades 8 onwards
Students must compete within their designated division based on their grade level during the 2025–2026 academic year.
Tournament Structure
The Championship follows a structured competitive format:
• Five preliminary rounds
• Quarter-Finals
• Semi-Finals
• Grand Final
Advancement is determined by:
• Win–loss record
• Speaker points
• Strength of opposition
All debates are adjudicated by calibrated judges under standards aligned with the Harvard Debate Council academic framework.

All delegates must have a valid Tabroom account.
Technology Policy
To maintain academic integrity:
• Mobile phones are not permitted for delegates on campus during tournament hours
• Tablets and laptops are not permitted
• Internet access and AI tools may not be used during debate preparation or rounds
Residential participants may access phones after tournament hours only.
Participation Pathways
Participants may enter the Championship through:
Institutional Registration
Official school delegations with teacher supervision.
Individual Team Registration
Students may form teams independently if their school is not sending a delegation.
Residential accommodation is available only for official school delegations.
Tournament Classification
The Championship is designed as a Tier B competitive debate tournament, providing a rigorous national platform that prepares students for higher-level international debate circuits.
Registration Information
Registration is confirmed only upon:
• Completion of the registration form
• Submission of required participant information
• Receipt of full payment
Tournament capacity is limited and registrations may close once divisions reach maximum capacity.
