EVENTS: VHSL rules will be followed for all events. We will utilize OPTION C for the format of the tournament, as prescribed by the VHSL Forensics Resource Guide. We shall conduct 2 consecutive rounds for all VHSL-sponsored categories, with at least two judges per round, with no elimination rounds. We hope to provide a great tournament for you and your students!



5. Speech Categories: The following open speech categories will be offered (2 rounds each): Extemporaneous Speaking*, Impromptu Speaking, Original Oratory, Storytelling, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Humorous Duo Interpretation, Serious Duo Interpretation, Prose, and Poetry

Please confirm with each of your students that they are available for 2/28 (Super-Regionals) and 3/28 (States). If they are not, they should not participate in our Regional event.

JUDGES:

Each school is responsible for providing 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof. The judges’ stipend is $45. Judges need to be registered in Tabroom and will need to create linked tabroom accounts.

After having accounts created judges will most likely want to know what judging virtually looks like - especially the balloting process. This video goes over making use of the Tabroom.com platform for judging.

NSDA Judging Accreditation Training

Training is essential for all judges. Novice judges can take free accreditation courses on NSDA’s website. The courses are fairly brief. You will need to make a free account on NSDA’s site.

CONCESSIONS and LUNCH:

We ask that schools provide their own bag lunch. Food deliveries are permitted at the school. We recommend Marco’s Pizza.

AWARDS:

Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in each category. Sweepstakes and runner up sweepstakes trophies will be given to the schools with the most points.
