We are thrilled to invite you back to Payson High School for the Payson PJ Party Speech and Debate Tournament! This is a live and in person tournament held on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Events:

Individual Events will include Extemp, Impromptu, Informative, Interps (HI, DI, POI, and Duo), Oratory, and Spar.

Debate Events will include Big Questions, Lincoln Douglas, Policy, Public Forum, and Student Congress.

7:30 a.m. Registration

7:45 a.m. Judge Meeting

8:00 a.m. Extemp Draw / Policy Round 1 / Congress Session 1

8:30 a.m. Individual Events Round 1

9:30 a.m. Debate Events Round 1 (LD, PF, BQ)

10:00 a.m. Policy Round 2

10:30 a.m. Extemp Draw

11:00 am Individual Events Round 2

12:00 pm Debate Events Round 2 (LD, PF, BQ) / Congress Session 2

1:00 p.m. LUNCH BREAK / Extemp Draw

1:30 p.m. Individual Events Round 3/ Policy Round 3

2:30 p.m. Debate Events Round 3 (LD, PF, BQ)

5:00 p.m. Awards Ceremony

Please note that students who double enter will do so at their own risk. The exception to this being Policy and Congress – no double entering for students who are competing in Policy Debate / Congress.

Fees:

Student Fee $4.00 per student entry ($8 per Policy / PF / Duo)

School Fee $25.00 per team

Judge Requirements:

Please get your judges ASAP! Schools will be assessed a $50 judge fee per judge short. Judge Burdens are as follows: 1 judge per every 5 IEs / 1 judge per every 5 Congress / 1 judge per 2 LD/PF/Policy/BQ entries

Awards:

Alongside Event Awards (1st - 3rd), we’ll also be doing Big School Sweeps and Small School Sweeps! Also 1st - 3rd.

Concessions:

Our LIA will be hosting a concessions stand! Cash and Card accepted, expect some classic PJ Party staples alongside some winter warm-up specials to help keep everyone nice and toasty. More details to come!
