Welcome to the Central Texas District Tournament!

We are excited to host you all from February 19th through the 21st for the District tournament at Boerne Champion High School in Boerne, TX. We will be hosting a tournament to determine our national qualifiers for World Schools Debate, Congress, LD, CX, PF, and the extemps. Students interested in attending nationals in the non-extemp IEs will submit a competitive resume and supplemental documentation for the events of OO, INFO, HI, DI, POI, and DUO as part of a nationally approved pilot program to streamline qualifications in these events. We will provide further information on how to submit this documentation soon.

We are providing a schedule that allows for cross entries between WSD, Congress, one Extemp, and one of LD, PF, and CX to allow for more opportunities to qualify. Here is a link to the schedule as it is planned in detail (know that times may have to be adjusted as we see the numbers of people entering the tournament). Here is the schedule in brief:

Thursday: WSD (Noon to 9pm)
Friday: Congress (Morning), CX, LD, PF (Afternoon)
Saturday: CX, LD, PF (Continued), Extemps

Congressional debate will be based on a docket of legislation crafted and provided by the district. We hope to see your submissions. Our district chair has sent out an email asking for submissions, and we will release the decided upon docket for tournament two weeks before we compete.

We will not be charging judge fees for this tournament; rather, all costs are baked into the entry fee to allow for simpler accounting on all ends. We are anticipating that we will not have coaches judge at the tournament, and you can help ensure that stays true by getting in your entries early, so we can determine the needs of our judging with some time before the start of the tournament. We very much appreciate your cooperation in this. If the needs arise we will ask coaches to step into judge pools.

CONGRESS: PLEASE SUBMIT LEGISLATION

The NSDA District Congressional Debate tournament will be held on February 20th at Boerne Champion HS. To give students the time to prepare high-quality arguments, we call for alllegislation to be submitted by 11:59 PM on January 30. We have tried to balance the docket in the past, placing one item from each school in the line-up. If your students plan to participate inCongress, please submit up to 3 items from your school for consideration. The committee will evaluate submissions and release the docket for the district tournament no later than February 3.Submissions should be emailed to aly.mithani@nisd.net .
