Tournament Information

CITRON ONLINE SPEECH TOURNAMENT

Citron is hosting this online tournament to give students an option to compete not only online (avoid travel) but also not have to commit to weekend tournaments. The tournament is held on ZOOM, but scoring/ballots are done in Tabroom.

The fee is $10 per entry and every 5 (and fraction there of) entry must provide a judge or buyout a judge for $45. We will try to keep async entries tied to async judges.

Our Events:

Inter (Dramatic & Humorous Combined) - Async video submitted by 6pm EST (24 hours before start) the day before the start of the tournament. All NSDA Rules apply.

Program Oral Interp - Async video submitted by 6pm EST (24 hours before start) the day before the start of the tournament. All NSDA Rules apply.

Original Oratory - Async video submitted by 6pm EST (24 hours before start) the day before the start of the tournament. All NSDA Rules apply.

Informative Speaking - Async video submitted by 6pm EST (24 hours before start) the day before the start of the tournament. All NSDA Rules apply.

Extemp Speaking (US/International Combined) (Live)

  • 2 Prelim Rounds and 1 Final Round

  • Students will arrive at 6pm EST to the Prep Room for Extemp Debate.

  • Proctor will assign topics and provide students with 30 minutes of prep time prior to the round.

  • All NSDA rules on US Extemp will be followed.

Impromptu (Live):

  • 2 preliminary rounds

  • Student get draw 3 random topics (usually fun not political)

  • Students have 7 minutes in total

  • Students need to deliver at least a 3 minute speech with 30 second grace period

Radio (Live):

  • 2 Rounds

  • Prepare a 5 minute Radio Broadcast which will be performed LIVE with cameras turned off. (Big penalty if the broadcast is 5 seconds more or less than 5 minutes).

  • Broadcast must include each of the categories below with news items being CURRENT to past 48 hours (order can vary):

    • Intro with call letters

    • International

    • National News

    • Local / Regional News (appropriate to students physical location)

    • Commercial

    • Weather

    • Sports

    • Outro
