We are delighted to welcome you and your school to the 10th edition of the New Horizons Debate Camp! This year, we've set new records with 22 participating schools and over 100 enthusiastic debaters. Thank you for joining us!

About the New Horizons Speech and Debate Team

The New Horizons Debate Team has a storied tradition spanning decades. Originally focused on Model United Nations, our debate program emerged as an independent initiative around 2015. Since then, we've proudly competed in national and international tournaments affiliated with the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA).

Our Notable Achievements

• 2014: One of the first Dominican schools to attend the Harvard Debate Invitational (now Harvard Annual National Forensics Tournament).

• 2016: Became the first Dominican school to reach elimination rounds at Harvard, marking the beginning of our legacy as the most successful debate team in Dominican history.

• 2017: First Dominican debate team to qualify teams to elimination rounds at Harvard Nationals.

• 2018: Sent the highest number of international teams to outrounds at Harvard, notably surpassing strong international delegations, including China.

• 2019: First and only Dominican team to reach the finals at the Georgetown University Debate Tournament, achieving an exceptional 9-0 preliminary record and securing both first and second speaker awards.

• 2020: First and only Dominican team to qualify three teams to elimination rounds at Harvard Nationals, and first-ever Dominican team to win Harvard’s International Division.

• 2022: First Dominican team to participate in the prestigious University of Florida Blue Key Speech and Debate Tournament.

• 2023: Achieved a 100% qualification rate at the University of Florida Blue Key Tournament, also capturing first and second-place speaker awards.

• 2023–2025: Reached the finals of Harvard’s International Division three consecutive years (2023, 2024, 2025), becoming the only Dominican school to consistently achieve finalist status at Harvard’s on-site international breakouts since 2020.

• 2024–2025: Sent the largest-ever Dominican delegation (five teams) to the University of Kentucky Tournament of Champions (TOC) in 2024, achieving the best Dominican performance in open (non-international) categories. In 2025, two of our teams returned to TOC and competed admirably.

Today, our team continues to grow, excel, and set new benchmarks. We proudly hold national records for the highest number of qualifications and trophies at Harvard, Binghamton, Blue Key, and Georgetown tournaments, alongside multiple successful appearances at the Kentucky Tournament of Champions.
