The Roundup at Ridgevue NIETOC

2025 — Nampa, ID/US

Welcome to the 2025 Roundup at Ridgevue

Friday and Saturday, November 14 and 15

We are a NIETOC (National Individual Events Tournament of Champions) Designated Tournament

ATTENTION COACHES!

Within the theme of the "Roundup", coaches will be encouraged to wear western wear (just like in the seasonal theme of the Holiday Havoc). Prizes will be awarded to those who don their best garb!

EVENTS

Speech - All 14 IHSAA events in an Open/Varsity division on Friday, plus finals (where event numbers warrant). Top Novice awards will be presented in each event.

Debate - Congressional Debate, Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Public Forum Debate will be offered in both Varsity/Open and Novice divisions. Worlds School Debate will be a Varsity/Open division only. All events will have a Superior/Excellent elimination round.

TOPICS

Speech - In Extemporaneous, students can pick from either the US or International areas. In Panel Discussion we will post the topics for discussion at least 3 weeks in advance of the tournament. In Impromptu, we will have one round with abstract words, one round with current events, and one round with fortune cookies (in place of quotations). If a final round happens on Saturday, we will have one choice from each in that round.

Panel Topics - the 3 Panel Topics are posted under the event description.

Debate - In Lincoln Douglas Debate and Public Forum Debate, we will use the November/December NFHS topics. For Worlds School Debate, all rounds will be prepared topics and we will publish the topics at least 3 weeks in advance of the tournament. In Congressional Debate, we will utilize the District 3 Fall Legislation Packet. Those schools outside of District 3 may submit one piece of legislation for the packet and those are due to Jeffrey Stoppenhagen at jeffrey.stoppenhagen@vallivue.org by end of day on October 25th. For the Superior-Excellent round, we will use the October 2025 NSDA packet that will be posted here after October 1.

Speech - Entry fees are $8 per slot, except Duo Interpretation which will be $12 per slot.

Debate - Entry fees are $8 per slot for the individual events (Congressional Debate and Lincoln Douglas Debate), $12 per slot for Public Forum and $15 for Worlds School Debate.

NO SHOW OR LATE ENTRY FEES! If you have students that drop after the deadline or are added after the deadline, there is a $25 per entry nuisance fee that will be charged.

PARKING

Friday and Saturday - On Friday, we dismiss school at 3:35 pm so it will be a little busy in the NORTH parking lot, off of Linden, for the first 15 minutes after school lets out. We suggest you be at the school no later than 3:20 pm so you can find parking and enter the building on the NORTH side (Auditorium) before the final bell. This is for JUDGES and COMPETITORS. Please DO NOT try and enter the school from the west side (front parking on Madison Rd) as this is the office and you will be turned away to enter form the North side. Saturday parking will be less stressful but ALL will still need to enter on the North side of the school, both judges and competitors.

CONCESSIONS/FOOD

There are NO food options near our school so we suggest you make the necessary arrangements to bring your own snacks and beverages as well as food, or take advantage of our concessions.

We will feed judges and coaches dinner on Friday, a light breakfast as well as lunch on Saturday. There will a Judges Lounge with snacks and beverages throughout both days for our judges and coaches!

We hope you will join us for two days of competition and camaraderie!
