We are a TOC qualifier at the octos level in policy, LD, and PF. We are a Tier 3 Congress Qualifier. In speech we are a TOC qualifier in every event at a level depending on numbers and a NIETOC qualifier.

2025 Glenbrooks Changes:

It’s really important to read the entire invitation; however, below are some 2025 changes/highlights.

-VPF will be at Niles West (not Niles North) - 5701 Oakton St. Skokie, IL 60077

-At all locations we will still be providing free lunch. However, we will not be providing free breakfast this year due to lack of interest. We tried it last year and ended up with a lot of wasted food. We will also have concessions available for purchase that are independent of the tournament available all day aside from during lunch.

-All events and divisions will be in person. No event will be online this year.

-We will have a small NCX division of 40 total teams with each school allowed to bring up to 2 teams.

-We will be more proactive in asking schools to provide at least one judge in each pool in 2025. We will work with you to make sure your judging needs are met but we expect schools to provide some of their judging at a minimum.

-Due to space constraints:

-We will not have a JVLD or JVCX division

-We will have smaller VCX (160) and VLD (128) divisions and will cap the number of teams each school can bring. In VCX schools can bring up to 3 teams and if we are not full by October 15, schools can bring up to 5 teams. In VLD, invited schools can bring up to 5 students and if we are not full by October 15, invited schools can bring up to 8 students.

-VLD:

-Varsity Lincoln-Douglas will be a true invitational tournament. Over the past few years, the influx of private coaches has made running this event nearly impossible because of judge constraints, but also because many private coaches have refused to abide by tournament rules. There was also damage done to rooms at GBS as well as very poor treatment of GBS paraprofessional and maintenance staff in the portions of the building where LD was housed.

-Initially we will limit entry in VLD to schools that have attended the tournament regularly over the last 15 years with consideration for schools that have attended a lot in the last 5-6 years.

-No parent judges in LD unless approved by the tournament directors ahead of time. Thank you in advance for adherence to this rule.

-With the exception of a student’s parent/guardian, schools may not bring private coaches to the tournament. In other words, there should be no one present at the tournament that is paid by a student/parent - only people paid by a school. Any competitor that has a private coach at the tournament may be removed from the tournament and will forfeit any fees paid to the tournament.

-All coaches at the tournament may only coach one school unless prior permission has been granted by the tournament directors.

-If you do not complete all 4 parts of our registration process prior to our drop deadline in October, you should not expect to get into the tournament.
