Eastside High School Eagle Invitational
2026 — Taylors, SC/US
World Schools Debate
Event Description:
World Schools Debate (WSD) is a dynamic debate format where teams of three to five debaters represent their side on a prepared or impromptu motion. The WSD format fosters global perspectives, combining prepared motions, which allow for thorough research, with impromptu motions that test adaptability and critical thinking. Debaters must construct logical, evidence-based arguments and effectively refute opposing viewpoints while adhering to a structure that includes constructive positions, refutation, and crystallization. Points of information (POIs) may be offered between the first and seventh minutes to challenge or clarify statements made by the speaker in the first three speeches for each side. Judges evaluate based on argumentation, style, and strategy, emphasizing clarity, logic, and teamwork. For further clarification and official definitions, please seeNational Speech and Debate Association’s 2025 USA World Schools Debate Invitational Manual.
