We plan to single-flight LD and PF, depending on judge availability. ALL schools must bring the required number of judges (which is 1 judge per every 2 debate entries and 1 judge per every 5 speech entries) in order to execute our plan for all events.
All debate entries with a record of 3-1 or better will advance to Elimination Rounds.
Except for BQ which has a cap of 2 qualifiers, we will have 3 qualifiers in every event with at least 10 entries. For LD and PF, the entries that drop in Semis will debate each other for the third qualifier. That is shown above as E3 on the schedule.
If a speech event has between 4 and 7 entries, we will have three prelims and no elimination rounds.
Some larger speech events will have 3 prelims and then break to Semis. Prior to Round 1, the District Committee will announce which events will have 3 prelims and finals or 3 prelims and semis (plus finals). We will also publish the target number of entries to break to Semis and to Finals.
*These times are very tentative and will be accelerated whenver possible. Bottom line: once elims begin, we may have to be very creative and flexible in scheduling all of the rounds given potential cross entries and best judge utilization.
