Speaker Point Scale

The speaker scale will be the same for all events, and judges will be able to assign speaker points in 1/10 incraments. In every event, we hope forthe average speaker score to be 27.5, with the vast majority of scores falling between 26 and 29. A full breakdown of speaker scores can be found below:

<25: Unacceptable. This score is deserved for violations of civility. Among other things, this score is given to a speaker that uses slurs, profanity, or behaves in a way that is unacceptable during the round.

25: Very poor debate

26: poor debate speech

27: slightly below average speech

28: slightly above average speech

29: fantastic speech

30: Near perfect speech! Anything above a 29 should be reserved for truly excellent speeches that you struggle to come up with any constructive criticism for. The speech should change the way you view the debate topic and/or debate, and should show mastery of both content and strategy.
